Through your membership purchase you support El Refugio de Potosí, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and conservation of local fauna and flora.
Membership is an easy way to be involved as well as enjoy the following benefits:
- free entrance for the member and 1 guests for one year from your enrollment date
- discounts for El Refugio events and activities
- subscription to the electronic newsletter

- unique volunteer opportunities
Membership is 500 pesos per year. You can join at the ERP visitor’s kiosk and get your membership card there.
Donors may specify the use of their donated funds or contribute directly to the General Fund:
El Refugio de Potosí Funds:
- General Fund: This fund provides for the ongoing maintenance and expenses of the garden but is not used to pay director salaries.
- Building Fund: This fund is used for facility improvements and new construction projects – for example, construction of the butterfly house, proposed crocodile habitat or the student hostel.
- Education Fund: This fund is used to develop new educational programs and to give scholarships to children who would otherwise not be able to attend ERP programs.
- Graduate Student Fund: This fund will help provide Mexican graduate students with resources to complete their field work at ERP.

El Refugio’s Honor and Memorial Gift program is a wonderful way to recognize someone or mark a special occasion—celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, or holiday, sharing a memory or saying thank you. The refuge has many ways to help you celebrate someone special.
Once your gift is received, El Refugio de Potosi will notify the honoree or honoree’s family with a letter describing the Memorial or Honor gift. With a contribution of $25 or more, your gift can be listed in a special section of the our website; Our Honor Roll

Butterfly House Enclosure Panels - $300 and up
This is a special opportunity only available during the construction phase of the butterfly house. With this gift, a panel of the special butterfly net we will use to build the butterfly house will be purchased in the name of the individual being honored. After the completion of the butterfly house, a special plaque will be affixed to the house with the names of the honorees and donors whose generous gifts allowed for the construction of the butterfly house. Benches - $2,500-$25,000
Benches are located throughout El Refugio de Potosi in beautiful, peaceful surroundings, and each bench has a plaque that is inscribed with a personal message. Bench opportunities are limited and subject to availability. Benches are made by artist Rewi Isley from sustainable Mexican grown teak. Iguana Club – Adopt an Animal Project
Join the Iguana Club today and give a gift to someone who loves animals! We have many delightful creatures ready to be adopted. When you adopt an animal your name or the name of gift recipient will be listed on our website along with the details on your adopted animal. For every adoption an e-card will be sent to your recipient with the all the details and wishes for a happy day.
